Challenge Charts can be downloaded at the bottom of this page.

The purpose of “Doers of the Word” is to get individuals and families deeper into or back into the Word of God.  Not only to have a time set aside to read the Word, but having the Word of God so saturate your life that radical change takes place.  Our spiritual lives have become a dry and thirsty land and we desperately need the Word of God to take hold of our lives and change us.  We are issuing to you a series of “challenges” that when done biblically and prayfully will change your life.  Along with the challenges,We will give you some helps and ideas that will be vital in you becoming more than a mere “hearer” of the Word, but an obedient doer.

Make a decision to change:  It has been said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result.  What is being done in “Christianity” today IS NOT WORKING! Therefore, we need to do something different.  Joshua told the people in Joshua 24:15 to make a decision, right now, who they were going to serve.  Today you are at a cross road and its time to choose. This choice will involve a decision to :

Rid your life of sin:

  • Honest Identification - "who am I really?" Not what others think or what is portrayed in public rather what God knows you to be.
  • Radical Amputation - Jesus said in Matthew 18:8-9 "Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire."  That is radical amputation!  Surely a person would do just about anything before they would pluck out their own eye or cut off their own foot!  To what extent are you willing to go to amputate sin from your life?  Are you willing to make the changes necessary to live for God?
  • Total Saturation - Immerse yourself in the Word! Do just go through the the Bible, allow It to go through you.

Make provision for the Spirit:

  • Memorize Scripture - "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." Psalm 119:11

  • Meditate on Scripture - This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night..." Joshua 1:8
As you read the you need God to speak to you through His Word.  This will not happen if your Bible reading is a separate entity of your life.  You must decide to meditate on the Word.  One way to do this is to get a 3x5 card box and a stack of 3x5 cards.  On the top of the card write the date (example: January 1, 2013). On the bottom line of the card write the word “Reading:”. Then write the passage or passages of Scripture that you read that day (example: Reading: Philippians 2).  Then, as you read,  in the middle of the card write a truth or two that God has brought out to you (example: God is near when I call upon Him – Psalm 145:18).  One or two thoughts is sufficient.  There may be a verse that you want to write out along with or instead of your thought.  You then carry the card with you, throughout the day take it out and think on the truth that you wrote on the card.  You are meditating on the Word!  The next day place the card in the box and fill out a new card.  If you are taking one of the challenges, there is a line for you to write a thought for the day.  This is done the same way as described above for the card method.  We would also suggest that you use the card method as you are doing the challenge.
  • Move in obedience to Scripture - "But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves."       James 1:22
