THE GOSPEL
At Crossroads Baptist Church we believe that the single, most important decision that a person
can make is the decision to either accept Christ or reject Him. Every person will do one or the other. It is impossible to do nothing at all because
an attempt at being neutral, by default, is rejecting Him. The truth is that
every person is a sinner and sin eternally separates us from God. The Bible is clear that God has great love for
you and because of His love He was willing to allow Jesus to die as a
substitute for you. Jesus was able to do
this because He was absolutely sinless Himself, therefore allowing Him to bear
your sin. Jesus rose victoriously from
the grave allowing Him to extend to you this victory over sin and death. The Bible teaches that salvation is by grace,
through faith. God’s grace offered
salvation to all people by the death of His only Son, Jesus. It is faith that must receive this gift of
grace. Many people believe that
the prayer that they repeated or the baptism that they received or the church
that they joined is what saved them, or at least played a part in their
salvation. Nothing is further from the truth! The faith that saves is more than just
acknowledging certain facts. Many people
believe in God and believe that Jesus existed.
Many believe that Jesus died for sinners. But it is not a faith that merely
acknowledges facts that saves. The very essence of saving faith is a changed
mind revealed in changed behavior. Faith
alone saves, but faith that saves is never alone. How about you? Are you depending on some act that you have
performed in the past to save you? Do
you simply acknowledge some spiritual truths as fact? Have you been saved by genuine, biblical
faith? It is the most important decision
you will ever make. Consider this:
"Heavenly Father, I have sinned against you. I want forgiveness for all my sins. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for me and rose again. I give you my life to do with as you wish. I want Jesus Christ to come into my life and into my heart. This I ask in Jesus' name. Amen."
- God is a holy God - "Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy." I Peter 1:16
- You are a sinner, separated from God because of your sin - "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
- The result of being a sinner is to be eternally separated from God in hell - "For the wages of sin is death..." Romans 6:23
- God loves you and wants a relationship with you - "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation (payment) for our sins." I John 4:10
- Jesus is the only way that you can have that relationship with God - "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6
- You must make a decision to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior - "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed." Romans 10:9-11 "...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved..." Acts 16:31
- Are you willing to admit that you are a sinner?
- Do you want forgiveness for your sins?
- Do you believe that Jesus Christ died and the cross for you and rose again?
- Are you willing to surrender your life to Christ?
- Are you ready to invite Jesus into your heart and into your life?
"Heavenly Father, I have sinned against you. I want forgiveness for all my sins. I believe that Jesus died on the cross for me and rose again. I give you my life to do with as you wish. I want Jesus Christ to come into my life and into my heart. This I ask in Jesus' name. Amen."
